Halloween isn't fun anymore ...
I used to like Halloween but I don't anymore. I never really thought about it, but there are kids' holidays and grown-up holidays. An example of a grown-up holiday would be, say, New Year's. I couldn't even stay up for New Year's when I was little. My grandmother tried to help me by letting me drink a cup of coffee but I absolutely hated it. I wanted to stay up so bad but I absolutely couldn't. Funny thing is, I could almost stay up until midnight prowling around our tiny Montana town with a pillowcase full of candy, harassing my neighbors way later than I should have, high on Pixy Stix and SweeTARTS.

Write a story in one page
[I used to write a lot of fiction but I got away from that when I pretty much lost everything I had several years ago, including all my short stories and half-written novels. Lately I've been giving myself goofy little exercises like this one in hopes that someday I'll get the creative streak back from my ill-spent youth ...]
Once upon a time, there was a little girl with long golden curly locks. Everyone called her "Goldilocks." One day Goldilocks went for a walk in the woods. She spied a little cottage nestled away in the undergrowth. She was a very curious girl so she went to investigate. She peeped though one of the open windows and saw Papa bear sitting in his favorite chair reading the newspaper.
Goldilocks had never, ever, seen a bear before, much less one that could read a newspaper.
Goldilocks was no dummy. She quietly tiptoed away. "I shouldn't have eaten that red and white mushroom," she thought. "It clearly doesn't agree with me!"
